On 9 Jan 2014, we officially become a “net zero” house – after one year of solar production, we had generated 8,235 kWh while only using 7,698 kWh !!!

On 9 Jan 2015, we had generated 8,426 kWh while only using 8,337 kWh!! (101%!)

On 8 Jan 2016, we had generated 7,610 kWh while using 9,099 kWh (84%)

On 10 Jan 2017, we had generated 8,056 kWh while using 9,855 kWh (82%)

On 10 Jan 2018, we had generated 7,994 kWh while using 8,889 kWh (90%)

On 8 Jan 2019, we had generated 7,165 kWh while using 8,853 kWh (81%)

On 7 Jan 2020, we had generated 8,143 kWh while using 8,452 kWh (96%)

On 7 Jan 2021, we had generated 7,121 kWh while using 8,823 kWh (81%)

On 6 Jan 2022, we had generated 6,891 kWh while using 9,891 kWh (71%)

On 6 Jan 2023, we had generated 7,380 kWh while using 9,355 kWh (79%) [Note:  we started using an Electric Vehicle in November]

On 9 Jan 2013, we had 11.44 kW system made of 44 Suniva Optimus 260W 60 cell modules (“panels”) (Suniva OPTXXX-60-4-1B0 11 16 12) installed on two roof surfaces by Solar Energy World

14 panels on the garage:  20 degree tilt, 182 azimuth

30 panels on the addition:  20 degree tilt, 272 azimuth

We have 44 enphase M215 microinverters (assembly 880-00012-r19) (http://enphase.com/products/microinverters/m215/) – one for each module;

This cost us $47,321.00 – or $4,136 per kW.

Additionally, as part of the same effort, we had new lifetime roof shingles put on our entire roof also by Solar Energy for a cost of $13,036.00

Finally, we also had two daylighting solar tubes by SolaTube also installed by Solar Energy World (these guys did everything!!)

On 19 Jan 2013, SMECO, our local electric utility came out and installed our NetMeter – and we were off and generating!

Did I mentioned that we get Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SREC’s) every quarter?  You get one (1) SREC for each 1000 KWH of solar power generated (1000 KWH = 1 MWH).  These can turn into cash if you own your panels (the actual amount per SREC is based upon how much the market is paying.. back in 2015, it was a high of $186, but in 2018, hit a low of $3.12 and is still around that level…):
