The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) produced the Food Waste Footprint report that estimated one thrid of the food produced is wasted. The worst of the worst is when we throw food out in a plastic bag (that required resources to make and buy).. and then we send that bag to the landfill (that requires resources to transport it and paying to throw it out)… and because it is in a plastic bag, in 50 years – it will still be wasted food instead of being transformed into compost that could be used to grow more food… (there is newspapers over 50 years old that have been unearthed that can be read after being put in the landfill)
